TVO Mathify: summer math tutoring

On July 3, TVO will be unveiling TVO Mathify, a revitalization of TVO Homework Help. TVO Mathify will continue to offer free online math tutoring for students grade 7-10 and will include the following enhancements:

  • 24/7 Interactive Whiteboard
  • Full Two-Way Audio
  • Mobile-Accessible
  • Image Upload

The Mathify team is also excited to announce that our online math tutors will be available during summer school 2018! From July 3 to July 27, our math tutors will be online Monday – Thursday, 5:30-9:30 pm ET.

Whether students are taking summer school classes, wish to review last school year’s learning or aim to prepare ahead, Mathify’s Ontario Certified teachers are here to support their math learning.

Summer school registration is open for both elementary and secondary programs. Registration procedures are different, so please read the following info carefully.

 

ELEMENTARY summer school

  • Register as soon as possible to reserve a spot.
  • Each program is run locally, and has a different focus.
  • Unless noted, all programs run from July 4 to July 27, 2018
    • Program Dates for Henry Kelsey SPS are July 4 to July 17, 2018

  • Form requires signature and documents from current school
  • Registration forms must be submitted to the school in which the student is applying to.

 

SECONDARY IN-PERSON summer school

  • NEW: Registration begins on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. and closes at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 27, 2018.
  • NEW: All classes begin on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 and conclude on Friday, July 27, 2018 (Regular attendance and punctuality are mandatory. Family vacation plans cannot be accommodated.)
  • Regular Credit Courses: new credit, or re-take a course previously taken to upgrade a mark.
    • 1.0 credit 8:45 a.m. – 3:30 p.m each day for 1.0 credit courses
    • Civics, Careers and Math transfer course are half-day.
  • Remedial Credit Courses: course completed during this school year, with final mark being at least 35% but below 50%.
    • 8:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. OR in the afternoon, 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.
    • Not all courses will be available in the morning time-slot.

Elementary Summer Programs

Elementary Summer School, July 5 – July 28, 2017

Elementary summer programs are tailored to increase engagement and build self-confidence in our students. These locally driven programs support students to build literacy and numeracy skills. There are also programs designed for ESL learners. Each school has a different program and application.

TDSB Music Camp

Join one of our three instrumental music programs this summer. For students in Grades 3 to 9, we offer two day camps in the city – Summer Sounds and Downtown Summer Strings. In addition, we offer Toronto Summer Music Camps, an overnight program at the Mono Cliffs Outdoor Education Centre in Orangeville.

Correction: Secondary summer school credits

Please note the following correction regarding TDSB secondary summer school courses:

  • Regular Credit Courses: Open to all high school students and adults with current pre-requisites. Students may take a new credit, or re-take a course previously taken to upgrade a mark.
  • Remedial Credit Courses: Open to all high school students who completed the course during the 2015-16 school year and earned a final mark of at least 35% but below 50%.

The original post had an error in the minimum final mark required for Remedial courses. We have adjusted our post and apologize for the incorrect information.
