Author visit for grade 7s, June 6th

Ms. Greenspoon has arranged to have an amazing author, Kevin Sylvester, visit the school on Wednesday, June 6.  His books have been featured in the Forest of Trees Reading Programs including “Minrs” in the Red Maple Program last year.

He will be here for one performance only – for all the grade 7 students.  After the presentation, students may purchase books to be signed by the author.

Reminder: MaCS info session for students, tomorrow at lunch!

Students in grade 8 or 9 who are interested in learning more about the MaCS (Math, Computers, Science) program at WL Mackenzie can attend a lunch & learn session tomorrow.

Talent Show this Wednesday

The St. Andrew’s Talent Show will be on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 1:30 pm for students, and at 6 pm for parents and the community. This show is a fundraiser for Cancer Research. Tickets are $4.00 each or 3 for $10.00, and are available to buy at the school during break and both lunches, until 4;00 pm on Monday, April 24. Tickets for the 6 pm show are available before the show, at the door.

Please come out and support the very talented students performing in this year’s talent show! It will be an excellent show and is certainly for a very important cause.

Jazz Night tonight!

The annual Jazz Night is taking place TODAY! (Please see attached flyer below for more details.)  We will be transforming the cafeteria into a jazz coffee house and have students serve the audience coffee and dessert at their table.

Tickets are on sale now, from your child’s music teacher, and also at the door.  Tickets are $10 each.

Doors open 6:45 PM.

Owen Spring Fling: volunteers needed

Owen PS will hold its annual Spring Fling on Thursday, June 15th. Students can volunteer to help with games, face painting, food stands, and more. Shifts are from 3:30 pm-6 pm or 5:30 pm-8 pm.

Students in grades 9 and up will earn volunteer hours. Students in grades 8 or lower can volunteer, but the hours will not count towards high school volunteer requirements.

MaCS – WL Mackenzie

The MaCS program representative will be speaking to interested students tomorrow during lunch. Students who have already signed up will receive a “guest pass” in the morning to attend this lunch session. If your child has not yet signed up but is interested in learning more about this specialized program at WL Mackenzie CI, please have them see me to get registered.

Rosedale Heights School of the Arts – tour

This is the last call for students to sign up for the daytime tour of Rosedale Heights, taking place on the afternoon of November 17th. Please contact me or have your child sign up before noon tomorrow, as I need to confirm our tour numbers with Rosedale.

Excursion forms for this tour will be sent home on Friday.

TDSB PIAC conference, Nov 14 – Unlocking Your Child’s Full Potential

The TDSB Parent Involvement Advisory Committee (PIAC) is holding its 9th annual conference. Free for parents and guardians, this conference is an opportunity to get informed, network with others, and to attend a number of workshops. There is also an Information Marketplace, where you can collect ideas, strategies, resources, tools and gifts that will support you and your child’s education journey.
