Ms. Greenspoon has arranged to have an amazing author, Kevin Sylvester, visit the school on Wednesday, June 6. His books have been featured in the Forest of Trees Reading Programs including “Minrs” in the Red Maple Program last year.
He will be here for one performance only – for all the grade 7 students. After the presentation, students may purchase books to be signed by the author.
Details are in the Library Author Visit flyer.
NOTE: The following conference is an event hosted by the University of Toronto outside of school hours, and is NOT a school-supervised excursion. Interested students and families are responsible for registration and transportation to/from the event.
At the Young Enterprising Women for YOU in STEM Conference, girls will have an opportunity to hear from a panel of females who are currently in STEM fields. The conference is scheduled for Thursday, January 25, 2018, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the University of Toronto, McLennan Building (room 203).
The evening’s keynote will be delivered by Samra Zafar, an internationally renowned TEDtalk speaker and youngest person ever to be on the Board of Governors of the University of Toronto. She will share her incredible personal and professional STEM journey. In addition, the evening will be a chance to meet and learn from other females currently working in STEM-related careers, and explore some of the challenges and barriers with a focus on equity and anti-oppression. One lucky recipient, a secondary student, will receive the Young Enterprising Women (YEW) Scholarship. This is an all-expense paid trip for the student and her chaperone to the Four Seasons in Miami, March 4/5 for the Annual Enterprising Women Awards Gala. There she will meet other young women interested in STEM and be paired with a mentor in her chosen field.
TDSB students can use the Key to Learn link to register directly: https://keytolearn.tdsb.on.ca/keytoLearnStaff/Register/index.asp?courseid=518866

This is a friendly reminder that forms and payments for Activity Day are DUE TOMORROW. Though payments for all activities are being submitted via School Cash Online, the activities going out of the building require a fully completed permission form.
Forms are to be handed in to the teacher in charge of the specific activity. (The names of teacher supervisors are listed on the bottom of each permission form.)
I’m hearing from a number of students that they are having trouble accessing the form. The link is also on the school Documents folder. Students can get the link by following these steps:
- Go to aw.tdsb.on.ca and login with your student number and password.
- Make sure you are on the St Andrew’s Junior High School AW site.
- Click on “Documents” in left menu (if it goes to your normal google docs, repeat steps 2-3).
4. Next to “Google Drive,” click on “Student”
5. You can find the link in the “2018 Activity Day signup link” document.
6. Complete the form.
Due to today’s modified lunch schedule and the fact that library computers will not be available during lunch, online signup for Activity Day will open today at 4pm, instead of 12 noon as previously announced.
Please remember that selections are due by Friday December 15 at 3:11pm. Access will no longer be available after that time.
Due to some students not receiving a complete copy of the booklet at the end of the day, the sign-up form for Activity Days will open tomorrow (Dec. 12) at NOON.
Students will receive the link to the form via their school (TDSB) email account.
The booklet for the 2018 Activity Days went home today with students. As some students may have been absent or may have received a copy that was missing pages, we are providing a PDF copy: 2018 Activity Day booklet.
