Please open the attached to receive a ton of amazing informaiton about St. Andrew’s JH. Happy Holidays!
It’s that special time of year again when we invite incoming and current students and families to join us for a celebration of learning at St. Andrew’s. Please see the attached flyer and plan to join us early in the New Year. Happy Holidays to everyone!
The response to our grade 9 year-end trip to Quebec has been overwhelming! We have enough students that have handed in their paperwork and deposit for two busses and therefore there are still seats available. It’s not too late to hand in forms. We would like every student in grade nine who is interested to take part in this fabulous experience with their classmates. If your child would like to be involved and there is some reason why you have not put in their forms yet, please feel free to contact the school and speak with Mr Howard or Mrs. Drape, confidentially. If there is something that we can do to assist you, we would be
Please note that the second payment of $75.00 is now due. Thank you to the many parents who have provided post-dated cheques. This is your reminder that it will be cashed in the near future.
For those who may wish to pay online using a credit card, please find the information below. Each student who has turned in forms to-date has been registered online as a participant and I’ve been told that parents should be able to go online, find their child, and pay the remainder by credit card (if they choose to). (Note that the initial deposit of $100.00 is key to ensure a spot on the trip. However, the remaining $450.00 can be paid as outlined in the information package or in any other break down that works for you as long as all monies are paid by the March 28th deadline.)
Below are the website and the code for St. Andrew’s JHS Quebec Trip.
Thank you.
It has been busier than usual at St. Andrew’s this first part of the 2011-2012 school year. With respect to the music department, they have planned and instituted a number of events for our students thus far including: grade 8 overnight music excursion to Cedar Glen (strings) or Bark Lake (instrumental) where students worked each day on their musical skills with guest musicians (October 26-28); grade 7 instrumental students working with York Mills CI (YMCI) students at the Collegiate and the grade 7 strings students working with YMCI staff and students here at St. Andrew’s (November 2nd); our strings orchestra practicing and performing at our Remembrance Day Assembly; instrumental students joined our Marching Band, practicing and participating in the Maple parade (November 13); our band practicing and performing at our St. Andrew’s Day Assembly (November 25th); and a grade 7 music workshop where our students worked half-a-day getting instruction from the Instructional Leaders from TDSB (strings students on November 30th; instrumental students on December 2nd).
Many parents have been asking what the date is for our traditional December concert so that they can plan to attend. Our first concert/performance for parents has been postponed until sometime in the New Year. A posting will be made on the blog to inform you of the date and to provide further information. Thank you for your interest and continued support.
St. Andrew’s JHS has been collecting non-perishable items for the North York Harvest Food Bank. Each homeroom class has a box in their classroom for collection. We will be receiving items up to and including December 22nd. We are asking that each student bring a non-perishable item this Friday (December 16th) and hand it in as they enter the cafeteria for the York Mills Collegiate music concert. Food donations are a vital way in which you can support hungry people in northern Toronto.
Here is a list of items most needed by The Food Bank.
Toronto is one of the most diverse cities in the world and people’s food needs are just as diverse. Think about variety when you donate and consider giving food that you enjoy eating at home.
Thank you.

It’s hard to believe that the holiday season is upon us. Here’s wishing you and your family a healthy and happy holiday.
With school resuming on January 9, 2011, there is only a two week turnaround until grade 9 exams. Please see the attached letter that also went home with each grade 9 student as a hard copy on Decemeber 12, 2011. It is extremely important information so please take the time to review and go over with your child.
The response to our grade 9 year-end trip to Quebec has been overwhelming! We definitely have enough participants for two busses and there are still seats available. It’s not too late to hand in forms. We would like all of our grade 9 graduating class to be able to be part of this experience with their classmates. (If there is a reason that you have not put in the forms for your child to participate that we may be able to assist with, please don’t hesitate to contact the school at 416-395-3090.)
REMINDER: The second payment ($75.00) is due December 14th. (Thank you to those parents who have provided post-dated cheques.)
Thank you,
D. Drape
It’s time to get those shots!
All grade 7 students and all of the grade 8 girls were given forms to take home and get signed in the fall. The original date that was given to us by Public Health was October 31st – Hallowe’en Day. After several communications with the department they agreed that this was not the best date, especially with kids being in costume, buying treats at the bake sale, and participating in the afternoon dance. The inoculations were re-scheduled for Tuesday, December 14th. The grade 7 students who have brought back a signed permission form will be receiving the first of two shots for HEP B. The grade 8 girls who have brought back a signed permission form will be receiving the HPV shot. If you missed the original deadline for getting the paperwork in, and you want your child to receive this vaccination, it’s not too late. If you still have the forms, sign them and bring them into Mrs. Drape directly at the office. If you need a new form, just let us know.
Sincerely,
Deborah Drape
