THE ADOLESCENT TIMES

Adolescence The stormy decade Flyer2

Please find attached the flyer for the next FREE workshop for parents organized by the Anne Johnston Guidance Advisory Committee in partnership with Lawrence Park C.I., Leaside H.S. Marshall McLuhan CSS, Forest Hill CI, Northern S.S. and North Toronto C.I.

The event, as you will see, is taking place at LPCI on April 26th and we welcome parents of all of our neighbouring schools to discuss the issues of our workshops- this time concerning the challenges of raising adolescents. Please forward the information to your parent community and contact me if you have any questions about this event.

Co-Curriculars and Extra Help

Just a reminder that the blog has a list of the many co-curricular activities (sports, arts, etc.) available at St. Andrews JHS.  Click on the tab at the top of the blog page.  There’s still lots of opportunity to encourage your child to get involved in activities before the end of the school year.  You’ll also find the extra help schedule on a tab at the top of the blog page in case this is of interest to your child.

GRADE 9 GRADUATION PHOTOS

Grade 9 Grad Photos This Week

Our grade nine students will be having their grad photos done this coming Thursday in the morning.  All students are required to where a white, collared shirt.  They will be wearing a graduation robe (supplied by the photographer) so there is no need to dress up in any way other than the white, collared shirt.  Students will be called from class to come to the cafeteria to have their photos done.  If anyone is absent Thursday, there will be a day to have retakes (which is yet to be determined).

Gr. 9 Quebec Trip Update

Our grade nine year-end trip to Quebec is just 9 ½ weeks away!  It’s not too late to hand in forms and join the fun!  We would like every student in grade nine who is interested to take part in this fabulous experience with their classmates.  If your child would like to be involved and there is some reason why you have not put in their forms yet, please feel free to contact the school and speak with Mr Howard or Mrs. Drape, confidentially.  If there is something that we can do to assist you, we would be more than willing to do so.

Please note that the next payment of $75.00 is now due (February 22nd).  Thank you to the many parents who have provided post-dated cheques or paid in full.  This is your reminder that post-dated cheques will be cashed in the near future.

For those who may wish to pay online using a credit card, please find the information below.  Each student who has turned in forms to-date has been registered online as a participant and I’ve been told that parents should be able to go online, find their child, and pay the remainder by credit card (if they choose to).  (Note that the initial deposit of $100.00 is key to ensure a spot on the trip.  However, the remaining $450.00 can be paid as outlined in the information package or in any other break down that works for you as long as all monies are paid by the March 28th deadline.)

Below are the website and the code for St. Andrew’s JHS Quebec Trip.

GRADE 9 GIFTED VISIT

Please see the flyer attached advertising an opportunity for grade 8 gifted students and their families to visit Northern Secondary School next week. It is a great opportunity if you are able to attend. Please note: this is something that students and/or parents attend on their own as it is not a school supervised trip.
